Wear protection for plant equipment is very important, because it has a direct impact on the cost-effectiveness of production. In many industries, there is restrict demands on the performance of abrasion resistance of some mechanical components. Linings or bushings made from technical ceramics reduces the wear and corrosion between mechanical components to the lowest extent. They ensure longer service life, are lower in maintenance and are thus more economical overall. Usually, these mechanical linings or bushings are made from zirconia oxide (zirconia), because it has remarkable properties of strength, hardness, wear resistance, elasticity modules, flexural strength and fracture toughness. In addition, it can withstand high temperature up to 1200 ℃ for long periods under great mechanical stress.
