Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), also known as zirconia, partly stabilized with yttria, is a standard ceramic material that is employed on a large-scale basis for industrial production of ceramic parts and components, has excellent hardness and toughness, wear resistance, and it also has good electric insulation and chemical resistance. It behaves very well in in weak acid or alkali solution without being corroded.
